The Beginning of the New Creation
Apr 5, 2026 • Matt Schiesser
In this Easter sermon from John 20:1–18, we see that the resurrection of Jesus is not merely proof of life after death, but the beginning of the new creation itself. The empty tomb shows us that Jesus came not only to forgive sinners, but to defeat death, break the curse, and begin making all things new. By looking at the risen Christ, we learn what resurrection life is like: connected to this world, transformed in glory, fully embodied, victorious over death, and already breaking into the present through the mission of the church.
