At Calvary Baptist Church, our beliefs are grounded in the truth of Scripture, shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ, and lived out in community. We are not driven by tradition or trends, but by a desire to be faithful to what God has revealed in His Word. Our doctrine shapes our devotion—it tells us who God is, what He has done, who we are, and how we’re called to live as His redeemed people.
God
We believe in one eternal God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created all things for His glory. He is holy, sovereign, wise, just, and good. Everything begins and ends with Him.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, without error and fully authoritative in all it teaches. It is sufficient for salvation, trustworthy in every area of life, and central to our teaching and discipleship. Through the Scriptures, God reveals Himself and shapes us into His likeness.
Humanity and Sin
We believe that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, is the only Savior of the world. Through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, He has secured forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Christ alone—not earned by works.
Jesus and Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, is the only Savior of the world. Through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, He has secured forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Christ alone—not earned by works.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates hearts, awakens faith, convicts of sin, and equips believers for godly living. He dwells within every Christian, producing fruit and empowering the church for witness and mission.
The Church
We believe the local church is the visible expression of Christ’s body on earth. It is a covenant community where believers grow in faith, love one another deeply, and partner together in God’s mission. We gather to worship, scatter to serve, and commit to live as a gospel family.
Baptism and Communion
We believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances Jesus gave to His church. Baptism is a public declaration of faith, identifying us with Christ and His people. Communion is a regular reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and our unity in Him.
The Kingdom and Mission
We believe that Jesus is King—and His kingdom has already begun. As His people, we live under His rule, seeking first His kingdom in all we do. Our mission is to make disciples of all nations by proclaiming the gospel, practicing justice, and living as a foretaste of the world to come.
Our Hope
We believe that one day Jesus will return to make all things new. Until then, we live with joyful expectation, longing for the day when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
We are not perfect people, but we serve a perfect Savior. And as we grow together in faith and obedience, our aim is simple: to glorify God, love one another, and make Christ known in our area and beyond.
